How Skill Matrix categories work

How to utilise Skill Matrix categories effectively

Updated over 9 months ago

BoardClic’s standard competencies are grouped into various categories based on the competency type and context.

Categories help you:

  • Navigate the competencies library to quickly find the type of competencies that fit your organisation

  • Structure your matrix so it is easy to read and understand the context

  • Provide high-level insights in the report. For example, the gap analysis in the report will present the categories used in your matrix inside a spider graph, which can help you identify potential competency gaps.

We recommend using categories if your Skills Matrix contains more that 20 competencies, as this will provide you with a more structured and digestible outcome. However, it is also possible to create a competency and not assign it to a category.

If you do not have any categories in your matrix, the spider graph in the gap analysis will display an overview of all the individual competencies instead.
