Embarking on your first BoardClic evaluation is an exciting step towards optimizing your board's performance. To ensure a seamless experience, here are five essential tips to consider:
Navigate the Platform with Confidence: Although BoardClic's platform is very straightforward to use, we suggest you start by taking a moment to familiarise yourself with the features, explore menu options and get comfortable with the interface. This initial step will empower you to seamlessly dive into the evaluation process.
Read Through BoardClic's Recommended Question Format(s): The heart of a meaningful evaluation lies in the questions you ask. Whether you opt for the BoardClic standard format or decide to add your own questions, it's crucial to prioritise relevance and clarity. Dive into BoardClic's recommended question format to ensure the questions are suitable to your organisation and contribute to a comprehensive evaluation.
Set a Thoughtful Timeline: Time is of the essence when conducting evaluations. Ensure you have a well-thought-out timeline, allowing participants 7-10 days to complete the survey. Additionally, agree on a date for sharing and discussing results (i.e. a board meeting). A carefully planned schedule enhances participant engagement and ensures a timely and effective evaluation process.
Inform Participants in Advance: Clear communication is key to a successful evaluation. Before the evaluation kicks off, make sure all participants receive relevant information. Clearly outline what they can expect, the purpose of the evaluation, and any other pertinent details. Informed participants contribute to a more constructive and insightful assessment. Here is an example of pre-evaluation communication.
Double Check Report Access: The insights gathered during the evaluation are valuable but can also at times be quite sensitive and should be handled with caution. Ensure that report access is appropriately set for the right users. For example, the results of a Board or CEO Evaluation are usually only shared with the Chair initially. Access settings are handled when creating a new survey or when it has been closed.
Embark on your BoardClic journey with these tips in mind and watch as your evaluations become catalysts for growth and success within your boardroom.
